The WORD is the answer
The end of a letter can often be one of the most comforting, emotional, & endearing parts. It’s where you impart a final bit of encouragement, love, wisdom, or often in Paul’s case all three.
We sometimes gloss over the end of Paul’s letters...as if forgetting they are addressed to us as well. The encouragement, love, & wisdom he tags at the end are not just from Paul, but inspired by the Holy Spirit written to uplift us. It takes on new meaning when we see these tags as personal.
Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
- II Corinthians 13:11
In what Paul? In what do we rejoice, be made complete, and be comforted? Not to mention, how in this sin infected world are we to be like-minded & live in peace? Well Paul has been explaining how all through his letters to the Corinthians, the World is the problem, the WORD is the answer. Understanding this, Paul has been telling us what...or simply put...
Rejoice, IN HIS WORD
be made complete, THROUGH HIS WORD
be comforted, BY HIS WORD
be like-minded, TOWARDS HIS WORD
live in peace; WITH HIS WORD
AND the God of love & peace will be with you.
“Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” (yeah...all means you!)
- II Corinthians 13:12-13
