Our Community and How We Serve our Neighbors

“So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:5

It’s not just southern hospitality that we strive for at Concord Road Church of Christ. We strive for unity within our Brentwood, Tennessee community, and well beyond the state lines, beyond borders, beyond oceans. Don’t you see? We recognize our community as a whole whether we are physically associated or not. By displaying a unified spirit, we attempt to live by the word of the Lord and share our charitable, caring and gracious ways to serve all neighbors.

How do you define community? Do you understand the meaning of neighbor in the words of God? Do you treat everyone with neighborly rapport and welcoming energy? Our community is a place where we attempt to display our faith. At Concord Road Church of Christ, we lean on one another in times of despair and lift each other up in moments of gratitude and joy. Have you set limitations though? To show compassion and kindness to those sitting right next to us and those with whom we may never actually interact is to live as neighbors, the way Christ wanted.

Who Are Concord Road’s Neighbors

Who are our neighbors? The simple answer is - everyone! Although we reside in Middle Tennessee we believe it is our responsibility to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ’s to the world. We serve out this purpose through many outlets and streams, all leading to the unification of our communities. Through ways such as mission trips, we are able to spread the gospel to those living in all corners of the world.

To impact our community, we also enjoy hosting local events and retreats for those residing in and around Brentwood. We especially enjoy hosting events geared towards inviting our local neighbors to get to know us and each other. These events provide the opportunity to gather on family-friendly occasions filled with food, games and music!

How You Can Serve Your Neighbors

It is an uplifting feeling to be able to connect with and provide a positive impact upon our community. We are always searching for greater and deeper ways to create opportunities to interact with neighbors. Mission trips and retreats are amazing opportunities, but there are many other ways to get involved and begin reaching far beyond our backyard.

Get involved

Whether it’s volunteering to help facilitate the Fall Fest, teaching Sunday school, attending a Bible study or anything in between; by participating in the opportunities presented to us at Concord Road Church of Christ, we attempt to help spread the word and love of God.

Lend a helping hand

There is an abundance of charitable events and resources you can partake in at Concord Road Church of Christ. Jesus was clear in his message regarding our duty to be charitable, especially to the poor, oppressed and those in need. Some of our members volunteer at food shelters and donate to people and movements supporting those in need. All of these opportunities open doors for others.

Take care of your environment

If we want to create a warm, loving community, it’s important to take care of the land where we gather. For example, the Trail Life group meeting at Concord Road Church of Christ recently performed landscaping work at the church. This work included cutting back overgrown brush. By participating in this type of work, we help to create a world where love is never masked by land we forgot to tend. By implementing these types of events, we try to encourage everyone around us to do the same. That is where unity continues to blossom as we learn and shine from one another.

Be kind

There is no easier way to spread and share the gospel than to simply be kind to everyone. It is written in Colossians 3:23 that we should be good stewards - “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”. Take a moment to show gratitude and recognize the good in the world. Be a part of the good in the world. As you radiate love given to you by God it will provide us with the opportunity to be a positive influence on our community as a whole.

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
