I am what I am

Ever feel messed up, ashamed, perhaps even unworthy? How could God possibly use me...and if he can’t use me...why would He want me?

If you’ve been there, or perhaps are there right now, just remember a guy named Saul who ravaged the church, entering house after house, and dragging off men and women, putting them in prison (Acts 8:3). He breathed threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, persecuting the church of God (Acts 9:1).

That’s the guy we now know as Paul who said:

For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
— 1 Corinthians 15:9-11

You are never too far away to be brought near by the blood of Christ (Eph 2:13). What you see as weakness, God can use as strength showing that by the grace of God you are what you are. He who created us can use us however He wants if we will only allow Him to have control.

Stop beating yourself down and start building up the body of Christ, not by your own strength or ability, but through God’s grace.

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
— 2 Corinthians 12:9

God can use anyone…including you…
