Purpose Your Heart

It’s almost Midnight as I write this from the “Moonlight Madness” event in Huntsville. We just listened as Jerry Elder talked about Daniel and how when faced with adversity, Daniel did not waiver because Daniel “purposed in his heart”.

In Daniel 1:8 it reads “But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank”

Have you thought about temptations, trials, situations, you might face & made up your mind what you will & won’t do? If you decide ahead of time what your answer will be, it makes it easier in the moment. Have you considered that by not accepting or participating in something others may think of as normal, “not so bad”, or even “expected”, God could be using you?

And notice in verse 9 of Daniel chapter 1, “Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials,”. Notice, God didn’t free Daniel from captivity, or remove tough times from Daniel’s life. He granted Daviel favor, blessed him, and used Daniel’s faith & purposed heart in the midst of captivity to accomplish His will.

Daniel purposed in his heart & God granted him favor. God is always with you and will use you for His purposes if you’ll only let Him.

Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve...but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
— Joshua 24:15

Is God #1 in your life? If not why not?
