Find Encouragement not Guilt

Have you ever been listening to a sermon, sitting in a bible class, or at a devo and felt the preacher/teacher was talking directly to you. You began to feel guilty, maybe even unworthy, and perhaps the thought pops in your head, I’ll never be good enough for God. Then, if you’re not careful Satan wedges in and whispers...why do you even try, just stop, you’re wasting your time.

Now I’m not saying Guilt is always bad, it has its purpose, but don’t let it define you, don’t even make it your “go to” emotion. God’s Kingdom, God’s Family is based on Hope, not Guilt. When you listen to a sermon, lesson, devo, prayer, hear the encouragement first and foremost. We don’t come together as brothers & sisters to guilt-trip one another, we come together to ENCOURAGE one another. We study the scriptures not to feel guilty, but to find hope & instruction on how to please God & follow His will.

“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” - Romans 15:4

If you dread coming to worship & class because it often leaves you feeling guilty, change your perspective. Worship is not on the LAST day of the week, but the FIRST!

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 3:13-14

Flip the switch, be proactive & not reactive, get ahead of the game!!! When you are with your family, find love & encouragement for the week ahead. You’re going to need it, we all do.

“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” - Philippians 2:1-2
